Clackamas county lost another of its pioneer citizens in the death on Sunday of Carrie Belle Myers Beatie at her home in Beaver creek.
Mrs. Beatie, wife of former County judge R. B Beatie, had been bedfast since July from the illness which caused her death.
She was born Oct. 30, 1865 in the pioneer home of her parents which formerly occupied the present site of the Elks temple. Her parents, the late John and Sarah Jane Myers, settled in Oregon City in 1845 and were active in public affairs of the early days of this county.
On Dec. 18, 1899 she was married to Robert B. Beatie and resided in the old family homes at 6th and Monroe Sts. and at 11th and Harrison as well at the farm home in Beavercreek.
Baptized in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in infancy, she remained a lifelong member of the church where she was known for her love and devotion to her family and her work in the church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B.; five children; Charles R. Beatie of Cartersville, Ga.; John M. and Robert H. of Beavercreek, Mrs. Lenora Parker, acting postmaster of Oregon City, and Alfred W. Beatie of Petaluma, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Holman, Hankins and Reliance chapel, with interment to follow in Carus cemetery, Rev. Hal Gross, rector of St. Paul's church, will officiate.
