John Cunningham Dies After Illness
John A. Cunningham, 78, died this morning at his home, 512 N. 12th St. He had been ill for two months. His body was taken to the Main and Sons Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the South Mound Cemetery.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Olney, IL but had lived 51 years in New Castle. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and was formerly employed at the Chrysler factory.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Fink; a son, Paul R. Cunningham of New Castle; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Trester of Eaton, OH; three brothers: Martin Cunningham of Vandalia, IL, William Cunningham of Collinsville, OH and Harry Cunningham of Defiance, OH; two grandsons; and two great granddaughters.
*Ancestry records show John was the son of Andrew and Sarah Jane (Weaver) Cunningham.
