Funeral services for Marvin Loyd Wilkerson were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in the chapel Of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Rev. Ronald Castleberry conducted the service and music was provided by Alice Powell, pianist.
Mrs. Powell sang two selections, "Sheltered In The Arms Of God" and "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You." Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Al Wilkerson, Gary Gilbert, Lee Wilkerson, Butch Malone, Duain Wilkerson and Charles Powell. The family received friends prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Wilkerson, 63, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at his residence.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Wilkerson was born in Ben Hill County and was the son of the late Loyd George and Martha Wilks Wilkerson. He was the owner of operator of his trucking company and attended the Pitts Church of God.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Linda Wade Wilkerson of Cordele, two daughters, Bobbi Jo and Michelle; two step-children, Robert O. Moore, Jr. and his wife, Joanna of Nashville, TN and Malinda K. Jobe and her husband Scott of Reidsville, NC; a sister, Brenda Gail Wilson and her husband, Rodney of Arab, AL; and five grandchildren, Casey Ogletree, Christian Floyd, Lindsey Jobe, Jordan Jobe and Owen A. Moore.
