Dot Barr Gibbs was the mother of six children, James Paxton (1930-66), Sharon Lee, Walter Judson (1934-2020), Scott Barr (1937-2014), Sally Moss (1941-2022), and Dorothy Marie "Reedy" Gibbs. She was a member of Big Spring Country Club and Christ Church United Methodist. Two booklets of her poems were printed, Not Forgotten Blue, and The Wild Sweet Smell of Morning.
