MRS GERRIT VAN ES.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Reformed church of Orange City for Mrs. Gerrit Van Es, 85, who passed away early Thursday at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Rev. Henry Colenbrander officiated and interment was made in Orange City cemetery under the direction of Van Etten funeral service,
Mrs. Van Es, nee Nellie Roos, was born in Illinois April 4, 1873, and came to Sioux County with her parents while yet a child. The family settled near Newkirk.
She was married to Gerrit Van Es In March, 1890, and they continued on a farm in that vicinity until moving to Orange City about 30 years ago,
Mr. Van Es preceded her in death in 1929. One son, Gerrit, died three years ago, and a daughter, Mrs, John Jacobs, passed away 17 years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs, Conrad Jacobs of Orange City and Mrs. Harold Pas of Arlington,, Va.; a son, Dick, of Orange City; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; one sister, Mrs- John Van Es of Orange City, and a half sister, Mrs.Jacob Vander Maaten of Sacramento, Calif.
