Henry served in the PA Militia during the War of 1812. He first entered as a private in the Company of Volunteers, 137 Regiment, commanded by Captain James Conrade. He later became a non-commissioned officer (an ensign) in the 2nd Brigade, PA, Militia Infantry, 1st and 2nd Division under the command of Captain Painters. He received about $35.56 as his military pay.
