Mrs. Mable Eckhart Is Dead at 83

Armstrong – Mrs. Mable Eckhart, 83, of Armstrong died yesterday morning at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to complications of old age.

Family services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Public services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church here, Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Armstrong Cemetery. Slaba Funeral Home is in charge.

Mable Redhead was born June 21, 1881, [per cemetery records, 1882] in Armstrong. She received her education in Armstrong schools.

After her marriage to Martin Eckhart at Armstrong, the couple lived near Armstrong for most of their lives until retiring in 1948 and moving into town.

Survivors include a son, Lee, of Milford and a grandson, Lt. Larry Lee, stationed with the naval airforce on Adak Island, Alaska. Lieutenant Lee plans to be home for the funeral. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1965)
