Loyd retired as a Pulbic Safety Officer from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield after 26 years of employment. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield.

Loyd had his greatest joys from his travels, visiting many ports including Cozumel, Cancun, Puerto Rico, Cartagena and St. Thomas. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Olive and Glenn Kelb, Gerry and William Broom Sr., and his beloved Schatzie.

Surviving was his sister, Mary Walker; and many nieces and nephews. His extended family and friends, William J. Brown, Charles and Solita Massie and Megan and Rachel, Karen Hail, Glenda Hembree, Kate Uribe and many others.

Loyd's ashes will be spread throughout the world. His memorial service was on Monday, July 25, 2005, in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home with a balloon release ceremony at Springfield Lake.
