Jesse Willard Holder, Sr., 94, passed away at Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster, California, on July 11, 2013. Jesse was born in Linden, Tennessee on March 28, 1919. He became a popular shoe repairman and shop owner for 63 years, only retiring after his wife of 44 years, Mary, died in 2000. The father of 5 children: Jesse Holder, Jr., of Santa Barbara, California; Betty Frey (Harvey) of Goleta, California; Reva Wheeler (Aaron) of San Marcos, California; Brenda Zohn and Pamela De Pue (David) of Lancaster, California; and a surrogate father to John Brown of Potts Camp, Mississippi; he is also survived by 3 siblings: Ruby Postada and Shirley Rowe of Illinois; and Joe Floyd of Florida; as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. All those who knew him are invited to his memorial, to be held Saturday, July 20th at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals Cremation, Lancaster, California. Visitation will begin at 9am, with the service starting at 11am. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale, California.
