Mrs. Hettie Lucille Gwaltney Agee, age 106 of Gordonsville, TN, the widow of the late Ivy Agee, Sr. passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage, TN. She was the only daughter of the late Mattie F. Gibbs and Jessie Gwaltney. She was also preceded in death by her Brother; Oliver Gwaltney, Grandson; Dan O. Agee, and a scion of family of early settlers of Smith County.

Mrs. Lucille was saved at the age of 10, was baptized, joined the Gordonsville United Methodist Church on August 30, 1917, where she remained a member until her death. She was very active until recently poor health and decreased mobility prevented active attendance but not interest. She was also actively involved in her community. She was well-traveled and being politically involved, she voted in the 2012 election. She was always informed on local, state, and national issues and was out spoken on her political beliefs. She was a great cook and a noted hostess. She loved entertaining guest and said the more the merrier. She was an charter member of the Home Demonstration Club, Gordonsville Women's Club, and the Mission Society of her church. It was Lucille Agee and her family who donated the land for the Gordonsville City Park. A great patron and supporter of the Gordonsville Public Library and other Civic causes. Lucille could be counted on for anything that would benefit the Town of Gordonsville. Most recently, Lucille had planned to attend the ceremony celebrating Ivy's appointment as a "Chevalier" of the French Legion of Honor. This is the most important medal of valor given by the French Government. It is given to Ivy for his extraordinary contribution to the liberation of France during WWII.

She is survived by her Son; Ivy (Virginia) Agee, Jr. of Gordonsville, TN. Granddaughter; Celia (Mort) Stein of Franklin, TN. Four Great Grandchildren; Matt (Dana) Stein of Dickson, TN, Jake Stein of Knoxville, TN, Amanda (Tommy) Dillehay of Gordonsville, TN, Daniel Agee of Gordonsville, TN. Three Great Great Grandchildren; Jonah Stein of Dickson, TN, Maura Stein of Dickson, TN, Kelsi Harris of Gordonsville, TN. Nephew; William (Miriam) Gwaltney of Old Hickory, TN. Niece; Frances G. Hunter of Murfreesboro, TN. Three Great Nieces and One Great Nephew, and a host of caregivers including, Frances Hunter, Linda Hunter, Jenny Brown, Linda Hensley, Laura Brown, Judy Chauvin, Nurse Melonie Swann, and Nurse Jennifer Summers also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Agee are scheduled to be conducted 1PM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Gordonsville United Methodist Church. Bro. Dickie Johnson and Bro. Floyd Massey will officiate and Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

Visitation with the Agee family will be held on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes and on Thursday from 12 Noon to Service time at 1PM at the Gordonsville United Methodist Church.
