Sunday services at Alvord for Mrs Clara Wilke

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church in Alvord for Mrs Clara Wilke, 81, who died at Restmore Convalescent home on Friday. The Rev Duane Manson officiated with Marliss Klutman at the organ.
Soloist was Mrs Milo Hanzen, who sang “In the Hour of Trial,” and “Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult.” The congregation sang “Rock of Ages.”
Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery at Alvord with Lockwood-Jongewaard Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Bearers were George Bramstedt, Edward Bramstedt, Henry Bramstedt, Harold Nagel, Wayne Wilke and Melvin Scherff.

Clara Schemmel Wilke was born October 14, 1882, near Rock Valley, the daughter of Fred Schemmel and his wife, Doris Arp Schemmel. She was married to Fred Wilke June 27, 1906 at Alvord. They farmed in the Alvord community until their retirement to Alvord in 1937. Mr Wilke died in 1941.

Survivors include a son, Albert of Rock Rapids, a brother, August Schemmel of Rock Rapids, a sister, Mrs Dora Holmstrom of Alvord and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death also by two sons, two brothers and three sisters.
