Artist. He was seven years old when the American Consul sent him to New York to live with an aunt after his father, an American citizen, was killed during an uprising of slaves in the tropics. He studied art under Walter Shirlaw in New York and Jules Joseph Lefebvre in Paris. He holds several patents to original carpet designs dating from 1874 to 1883. He was assignor to Hartford Carpet Company as well as Alexander Crow and Alexander Crow, jr. He was a member of the Society of American Artists, The Salmagundi Club, as well as the Westchester Walking Club.
