Gloria was the daughter of Robert and Eunice (Smith) Callen. She married Dewey Allen Boatright Sr. in 1977 and they were the parents of two children: Teresa Ann and Dewey Allen Jr.

HARRISBURG, ILL: Gloria A. Boatright, 71, Carrier Mills, died 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1940, in St. Louis County, Mo. to Robert Callan and Eunice Smith Callan. On Oct. 7, 1977, she married Dewey Boatright, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2010.

She was a retired Spanish and English teacher in the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Unit No. 2 School District and later taught at the Southeastern Illinois College and Eldorado High School.

She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Joseph) Harris of Carrier Mills; a son, Dewey Boatright Jr. and Dusky Steinsultz of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Sierra Dawn Harris, Brandon Boatright, Christopher Boatright, Destiny Boatright, Renee McDonald and David McDonald.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

As per her request, cremation has been accorded. There will be an informal memorial gathering held at noon Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 109 E. Washington St., Carrier Mills.

Burial will be at a later date in the North America Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, Carrier Mills.
