He was the son of Jonas Andrew and Leota Emma (Hundley) Cook. On Nov 27, 1946, he married Ernetta Joan Decker, who preceded him in death. On Aug 25, 1972, he married his former wife, Julia Brown, who survives. His long time companion, Shirley Titus, survives in Lakeview.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Eugene (Pat), Elida; three daughters: Joyce Ann (Steve) Kesler, Elida, Gloria Jean (Mike) Closson, Delphos, and Karen Charlese (Janet) Blankenship, Gilboa; a brother, Lester, Russells Point; five sisters: Vera Ulmer and Mary Alice Maiami, both Sandusky, Betty Williams and Velma Marcile Ricketts, both Bellefontaine, and Doris Sheldon, Alger; and fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are two brothers: Charles Junior and Wilber Eugene; four sisters: Virginia Mercer, Evelyn June Cummins, Jo Ann Foor, and Shirley Lou Cook; and a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was a decorated Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post #1275 of Lima, American Legion Post #96 of Lima, 82nd Airborne Division of WWII, 82nd Airborne Division Association 507th and 504th, 17th Airborne Division Association, Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39 of Lakeview, and FOE Aeries #370 of Lima. He retired from Lima Packing House-Pride of Lima, Keystone Meat Companies after 55 years as a butcher.
Funeral services will be at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, with Pastor Mark Foor officiating.
