Nancy Thompson Breland was born December 31, 1914, to Hugh and Fannie Turnage Thompson. She died July 4, 2013 in Jackson, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday July 9, 2013 from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home High Street. Visitation will be from 10:00am till 11:00am Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 3:30pm Tuesday at the Magnolia Cemetery, Leaksville, MS.
Mrs. Breland was a native of Lawrence County and attended New Hebron Elementary and High School. After graduation, she enrolled in Mississippi State Teachers' College, now University of Southern Mississippi and graduated in 1937.
She taught English in Anguilla and Beaumont schools and upper elementary grades in the Jackson Public Schools.
She was a member of Riverside Independent Methodist Church and was active in Sunday School and Women's Missionary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dan E. Breland, Sr., her parents, her brother James D. Thompson and his wife Mary, and infant sister Evelyn Thompson.
She is survived by sons Dan Breland, James T. Breland and his wife Virginia, grandson Dr. Mark F. Breland, great-grandson Parker, nephews James D. Thompson, Hugh A. Thompson, Judge L. Breland Hilburn, Lloyd E. Turner and niece Elana Turner Pope.
