He was born in Guntersblum, Germany. He was conscripted by Napoleon's Grand Army 1st January 1806 serving until captured by the British Navy. He then enlisted in The King's Royal Rifle Corps (5\60th). He served through the entire Peninsular War under Wellington. His battalion later was sent to Canada arriving at Quebec 5th October, 1818. 24th July, 1824 George retired from the army and chose to stay in Canada. He moved to Montreal with his family, and lived out his life there.
