Following his naval service, he married Myrtle Sue Snyder on 23 Dec 1954, and attended the NASA Apprentice School at Langley Research Center, where he graduated in 1960 and was assigned to the 8-foot wind tunnel at LRC's east side complex. As a NASA electronics engineering technician, he was involved with the V/STOL and 7-by-10 tunnel complex.Obit This project helped perfect "vertical and short take-off and landing" in the 1950's to the 1970's. These aircraft are capable of taking-off or landing verically on short runways.
