Robert Thomas Pigg, Jr.
Robert Thomas Pigg, Jr., 80, of Greenwood, died of kidney failure Thursday, December 25, 1997, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson.
Mr. Pigg was born in Little Lot, Tenn. but moved to Greenwood in 1925. He was a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church and a former member of the Greenwood Exchange Club. He was a retired salesman for Delta Purchasing. He served in the 31st Infantry Dixie Division during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, at Wilson & Knight Chapel with the Rev. Grady Bailey officiating assisted by the Rev. Bob Hatzfeld. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Pigg is survived by his wife, Jane Rodgers Pigg of Greenwood; one daughter, Grace P. Evans of Dallas; stepson, Keith Stevens of McCarley; two sisters, Jean Pigg and Dot Johnson, both of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Laura Jamison and Rob Evans, both of Dallas and Jed Evans of Tyler, Texas; and two step-grandchildren, Josh Stevens and Summer Stevens, both of McCarley.
Pallbearers were Wayne Clark, Jack Massey, Buddy Johnson, Lolo Lubiani, Floyd Melton and Charlie Baglan.
Honorary pallbearers were Chili Hawkins, Leroy Walker, Doyle Rodgers, Roy Rodgers, Kelly Rodgers and Lewis Williamson.
Wilson and Knight, Inc. of Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
