Socialite, Philanthropist, Author. Born in San Francisco she worked as a volunteer at her home city's art museum before moving to the east coast where she became known as New York's "most popular hostess". She was a famous Socialite in Paris as well. She loved clothes and was close to many famous designers including Bill Blass and Yves Saint Laurent. She was known for her philanthropic spirit. Many of her outfits were donated to museums and charities. Her book, "R.S.V.P. Menus for Entertaining from People Who Really Know How" was published with all proceeds going to cancer research. She served as a fashion consultant, editor and correspondent for various periodicals on both sides of the Atlantic. She died in Manhattan. (bio by: Bigwoo)
