Berlin-Paul A. Peterson, 70, of Lancaster Rd., died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare in Marlborough after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving companion of thirty two years, Thelma (Seymour) Mitchell; her son, Clint Mitchell and his wife Jean (Polewarczyk) Mitchell; and granddaughter, Claris Mitchell, all of Leominster. He leaves a son, Paul A. Peterson, Jr.; four sisters, Betty Johnson, Helen Savery, Ruth Ferguson, and Jean Donaghey; a brother, Chester Peterson; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Vermont. He leaves many dear friends especially the Wheeler Family of Balance Rock Farm in Berlin. He is preceded in death by five brothers, Donald, Robert, Herman, Roy, and Ralph Peterson.
Paul was born in Proctor, Vermont to the late Edwin C.L. Peterson and Irene A. (Moran) Peterson. He proudly served in the Vermont National Guard prior to holding employment with Vermont Marble Company, from where he was employed as a crane operator for many years. Paul later worked as a brake repair man for the Vermont Railroad, and most recently enjoyed employment with Bigelow Nurseries and several local tree cutting and landscaping companies. A memorial service is to be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 12PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Burial will be held at a later date at the South Street Cemetery in Proctor, Vermont.
