CHAMBERSBURG - Samuel Reisher, 85, of 1420 Scotland Ave., died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Chambersburg Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1916, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late George S. and Adelaide Wentzel Reisher. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, where he taught the men's Bible Class.

Early in his life, he worked at Greyline Hosiery Mill. Later, he was a salesman for Nationwide Insurance Co., and retired in 1980 from Oliver Oil Co. During World War II, he was a radioman/instructor with the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and the South Pacific. He was formerly an active member of Greene Township Lions Club, C.V. Hose Company No. 5, Cedar Grove Cemetery Association, Mercersburg Sportsmans Association and Little League Baseball. He helped form and served as Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 371.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jean Smith Reisher, whom he married June 25, 1945, surviving are a son, Samuel R. of Chihuahua, Mexico a daughter, Brenda J. (Mrs. Phillip) Kelley of Lebanon and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George S. Jr. and three sisters, Mabel Fisher, Helen Ambrose and Gail Reisher.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 1140 Edgar Ave., with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. In keeping with his life, an anonymous act of charity would best honor his memory.
