Suggested edit: Ezra was a son of Ezra Thompson Ridout and Mahala Dye Ridout. When Ezra Sr. died in 1850, Ezra Jr. went to live with his elder brother Hiram and wife Julia. Mother Mahala and Ezra's siblings Rebecca, Leander, and Mahala also went to live with Hiram. By 1854 Ezra Jr. had married Lucy Ells and was living with his wife.

Ezra and Lucy had two daughters:
Julia 1855-1870
Hattie (Harriet) 1864-1900
