He was married to Nancy A. Reveal in 1854 in Illinois, and his second marriage was to Isbelle Templeton in 1859 in Illinois. There were no children of either marriage.

Ezra Lawson died at home 4 miles NW of this place (Schutz's Mill), Friday at age of 60 years. Remains taken to Blue Field Cemetery Sunday, March 19 and laid to rest.
