Obituary:
H.S. MCCALL PRESIDENT TEXAS HIGHWAY BRANCH, A. G. C., DIED
Hawley S. McCall, 54, Waco, Texas, who for several years past has been successively director, vice president and currently president of the Texas Highway Branch. A. G. C., died suddenly at home, February 18th.
Mr. McCall was born in Sabine, Texas, graduated from Texas A. & M. College in 1903, went to work in the engineering department of the H. & T. C. Railroad, and shortly thereafter founded the McCall-Moore Engineering Company of Waco. He headed this company until he organized the McCall EngineeringCompany, of which he was the head at the time of his death.
He was the first Texas Highway Branch president ever to die in office and was succeeded by J. Rutledge Hill of Gifford-Hill, Inc., of Dallas, Texas.
Few Texas contractors had a wider acquaintance in this state than did Mr. McCall or was more highly respected and affectionately regarded.
He is survived by his mother, wife, two son (sic) and one daughter, and two brothers. A large delegation from the Texas Highway Branch attended his funeral, and Vice President Hill and Secretary Chas. H. Newell acted as pallbearers.
