Edward was a Civil War invalid veteran. He filed for his US Civil War Pension in Idaho 29 October 1883.

After his death his wife Diadama filed for his pension 9 June 1894. She also received a US Land Patent 1 March 1904 in Little Wood River Valley. (This Patent may have origially been in Edward's name).

From Ancestry.com family trees: Son of John Young & Hannah Dennis Brown...Married 20 August 1815........half-brother to LDS President Brigham Young.

Their son John was issued a US Land Patent 22 January 1896 for 160 acres in the Little Wood River Valley.

Edward & Diadama were married 1 January 1847 in Steuben, New York
