Anthony Krzeminski (1875-1938)

My Great-Great Grandpa Anthony Krzeminski was born on June 13, 1875 in Skempe, Poland the son of Andrew and Helen (Napierski) Krzeminski. No one seems to know a whole lot about Grandpa Krzeminski, particularly pertaining to the fact that he died so much earlier than Grandma and most of his children and grandchildren were quite young themselves when he died. It's often said that he was a very "happy go lucky" who was often referred to as a very hard working man. He came to the United States looking for a better life like many other Polish people. It is understood that Anthony "Tony" came to America solo and that none of his family ever came over. He, like Anna Brudzinski (Grandma) headed to Toledo like many other men and women seeking work. While living in Toledo, Tony worked as a General Contractor. He attended school up until the 8th grade like his children later would. Even though he lacked a higher education, it didn't stop him from learning to speak Polish, Russian, German, Belgian and English. While living in Toledo he met Anna Brudzinski, a cook at a local restaurant and a teacher of Polish and Russian. He was 30 and Anna Was 17 when they were married. After spending nearly twenty years in Toledo: Anna, himself and their young children: Walter, Mary and Helen packed up and moved to Detroit, MI where he was a General Contractor there also and Anna was a home maker. They spent six years in Detroit, while living in Detroit Anthony, Edward, John and Joseph were all born. Just after Uncle Joe's birth they moved to Waltz, MI (The Doctors suggested that they do so due to Grandma's ailing health). On the Waltz farm they grew everything from Tomatoes to Corn and raised many animals from chickens to horses. All the fields were cultivated by the help of Horses (long before the time of tractors). Grandpa Krzeminski was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer and passed away at home on Wednesday February 9, 1938 at the age of 63. Visitation Services took place at home and he was buried on Saturday February 12, 1938 from St. Stephen's Catholic Church and buried at St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery. He left behind his wife, Anna, of 34 years. Ten Children: Walter, Mary, Helen, Edward, John, Joseph, Peter, Ludwig, Gertrude and Edmund and Eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons Baby Boy, Anthony and John.
