Ray Jan Cook, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, departed this life on May 29, 2013. He was born on November 25, 1933 to Corbit Ray "Joe" Cook and Cherokee "Cherry" Mounts Cook, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Jan graduated from Muskogee Central High and received a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, in 1955. He then began his career as a geophysicist and continued in that profession until his retirement 39 years later from ExxonMobil. He felt fortunate to be able to spend his life doing work that he truly loved. Over time, this occupation took him to six of the seven continents and led to his family spending enjoyable years living in England and Singapore. Also in 1955, he and wife, Jo Anne Hoyal, were married and they were blessed with the births of two sons. Family was Jan's other love and his life was complete and content. He was preceded in death by his parents.
