FRED ANDERSON DIES THURSDAY AT PUEBLO, COL.
Fred Anderson of Vernalis, Cal., passed away at Pueblo, Col., Thursday, at the Minnequa hospital of double pneumonia after a few days' illness.
He was enroute home from attending the funeral of his mother, Mrs. Samuel Anderson, near Arcola, on February 9th. He left Mattoon, Friday, having spent the night and day with his sister, Mrs. Henry Horn, at 1716 Lafayette avenue. He was suffering with a severe cold when he left and it is supposed by his relatives that he had become seriously ill at Pueblo and was taken from the train to the hospital where death rapidly followed as the result of double pneumonia.
The remains are being brought back to Arcola for the funeral and interment. His bereaved wife and three small children are hurrying from California to attend the obsequies, the final arrangements for which will not be completed until she arrives.
John C. Frederick Anderson is the eldest son of Samuel Anderson of near Arcola. He was born July 28, 1889 near Humbolt and spent his early life on the farm. He was married to Miss Lea Logan in Arcola, Sept. 4th, 1912, and in the following December they moved to California, locating at Fresno where they resided until last March when they moved to Vernalis where he was senior fireman for the A. P. Oil Co.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church and belonged to the Masonic lodge in Fresno.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Louise and Thelma and son, Donald; his father, Samuel Anderson, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Horn in this city, Mrs. Harry Edgar in Arcola and two brothers, Ernest and Lowell at home.
