Birth: 1817
Seneca
Ontario County
New York, USA
Death: Apr. 26, 1881
Dallas
Dallas County
Texas, USA

Civil War Veteran: Co. C, 140th Illinois Infantry.

The birth year is taken from the average of the ages reported in the 1860 through 1880 Federal Censuses.

The death date is taken from his widow's application for a Civil War pension.

William, born about 1817 in Ontario County, NY, moved to Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada with his parents about 1837, and in 1842, married Catharine McCarty in Galt (now Cambridge), Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada.

After enumerating in the 1851 census of Blenheim, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, William and Catharine moved their family to Galena, JoDaviess County, Illinois in 1852, and enumerated there in the 1860 and 1870 censuses. In the 1880 census they enumerate in Dallas, TX next to their daughter Jennie and son-in-law Henry Rue.

William and Catharine's daughter, Mary J. "Jennie" (Isenhour) Rue; sons, James Monroe Isenhour and Charles Isenhour; and daughter, Viola (Isenhour) Heiner, wife of Houston architect, Eugene Heiner, all settled in Harris County, Texas.

Son Hiram "Frank" Isenhour lived in Cairo, Illinois; Malden, Missouri; Unity, Illinois; and Miami, Oklahoma.

Son William enumerated with his parents in 1851, 1860 and 1870; no data after 1870.

Son Louis F. "Frank" enumerated in the 1880 Census for Brush Creek, Fairfield Twp, Fayette Co., Iowa married to L.A. Isenhour. No data after 1880.

Son Jerome is likely the Chauncey Jerome Isenhour, born in Illinois about 1858, who lived, worked, perhaps never married, and died in Harris County, TX.

Aside from the usual difficulty tracking the Isenhour surname with it's phonetic spelling versions and electronic transcription errors, this family group uses initials, nicknames and middle names as given names; and in some cases there is morphing of the given names.
