U.S. Congressman. He attended the Law School of George Washington University, then moved to Redfield, Iowa, in 1929 and engaged in the brick and tile manufacturing business. He was Mayor of Redfield, (1938-40) and vice president of the Dallas County Farm Bureau, (1939-40). In 1940, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Cassius C. Dowell, serving until 1941. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his manufacturing business and during World War II, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve. After the war, he served as civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army, (1952-56) and was director of the Central National Bank and Trust Company, until retiring in 1965.
