Former head of the French Secret Services. He entered in the police service in 1970 and in 1992 was appointed the Chief of French intelligence services, a position he held until 2004. He was invested Officer of the Legion of Honour and Commander of the National Order of Merit. In 2008 were revealed a total of 23 secret notebooks written by him between 1998 and 2003, containing political information and financial affairs of the Fifth Republic, and the information and rumors about the sexual life, religious orientations or compromising situations of many people, prime ministers and other politicians of France, including several secret plans of former President Jacques Chirac, and details of the divorce process of Nicolas Sarkozy, then interior minister, and his wife, Cécilia, for adultery reasons.
