Thomas Brand, 20th Lord Dacre was the son of Thomas Brand and Gertrude Roper, Baroness Dacre.
He married Barberina Ogle, daughter of Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle, 1st Bt. and Hester Thomas, on 4 December 1819.
