S. E. CALKINS BURIED AT
TWIN LAKES LAST FRIDAY
Funeral services for S. E. Calkins,
An old resident of this community
Were held last Friday afternoon at
Twin Lakes. Elder Piper officiating.
Mr. Calkins died at his home in
Kennan, Wisconsin on April 18th.
He had lived there only since last
November. He came there from
Black River Falls where he owns a
Farm and where he had lived three
Years. His death was due to pneu-
monia.
Mr. Calkins was born in Jackson
County, Wisconsin, September 4,
1860. He lived there until he was
twelve years of age and then he
moved with his parents to Chippewa
County. He lived in Chippewa Coun-
ty for eleven years. At the age of
twenty-three years he was united in
marriage to Miss Minda Parker at
Twin Lakes and to this union five
Children were born of which only two
survive, Sylvester Calkins of Menom-
onie Falls and Wilson Calkins of
Kennan, Wisconsin. In 1908 his
First wife died and a few years later
Was united in marriage to Kate
Mason who came here from Virgin-
ia. She with two children, one eleven
Years of age and one six months old
Survive. He also had two brothers
and four sisters. F.W. Calkins of
Bear Lake being one of the family.
