23rd Indiana Governor. He served as Governor of Indiana from January 9, 1893 to January 11, 1897. A Democrat who served in the Indiana House of Representatives in 1876, and as Indiana Secretary of State from 1891 to 1893, as Governor he used the state militia to control striking railroad workers, and opposed prize fighting and horse racing.
