This request for John Lott Smith (Aug. 16, 1860 - Jun. 26, 1861) and the other request you made for William Hyrum Smith (Aug. 15, 1857 - Aug. 31, 1858) probably cannot be fulfilled.

A couple of years ago I took photos of every grave marker in the Farmington City Cemetery, and every unmarked grave on record. These two individuals were not in the records. Their grandfather, William O. Smith, owned the property where the Lagoon Amusement Park is now situated. There are historical indications that there were 6 unmarked graves on the William O. Smith Farm - on the north side near what is now a small race track Some individuals currently in Lagoon management positions claim those were false rumors. Based on discussions with other Lagoon employees and other research, I personally believe the graves are are there but I have not been able to find a record of the names of those six individuals. Reason tells me they would have been members of the extended family of William O. Smith. These two grandsons are possibilities.

My great great grandfather, Alan Burk, married a daughter of William O. Smith and they had a child who died as an infant and was buried in Farmington but apparently not in the City Cemetery because there is no record of her there. I think she is also a possibility of being one of those 6 buried on the Smith Farm.

Someone else may volunteer to accept the your requests but I highly doubt that they will find anything in the Farmington City Cemetery for them.

Thanks,
Roy Rencher
