1907-1911 McCallister Funeral Home Records, Bartlesville, OK, page 108. James gravestone reads 1869 ~ 1909. Don't know if the records are in error or the engraver engraved the wrong date. He was born in Hocking County, Ohio. Passed in Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma. Born to the parents of Ebenezer Abraham and his wife Martha Ann Warthman Gorden. James Clayton married Clara Ellen Polston, and together they had four children, Martha Gertrude, Zelpha Ellen, Euell John and Edwin Almus. He had six sisters, Ada Effie, Mini Ann, Jemerima A, Jenies, Philina Oklah, Sarah D and a brother Lafayette. He is buried in White Rose Cemetery in Oklahoma. He is buried with his wife who outlived him.
