Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Roy and Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Private graveside services and interment will follow later at the Fentress Community Cemetery.
Vera was born on October 11, 1923 in Guadalupe Co., Texas to Jesse and Ellon M. Reneau Corkern.
She will be remembered as a devoted nurse in Luling, Warm Springs, and 28 years at Guadalupe Regional Hospital in Seguin.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Beyer, her parents, her brothers, Earl, Jesse Lee and Percy Corkern, sister, Betty Jean Corkern McIntyre and her grandson, Jesse Collins.
Survivors include her daughter Audrey "Biddie" Jubela and husband Raymond; sons, John Gary Collins, Sr. and wife Linda and Bud Gibson and wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Traci Jubela Chudej and husband James, Trae Jubela, John Gary Collins, Jr., Shauna Collins, Brandon Collins and wife Debbie, Misty Collins Madison, Josh Collins, Kandice Collins, Lindy Baker Young, Carla Gibson Wilkins and husband Steve, Elizabeth Gibson Slack and husband Paul, Anna Gibson Huston and husband David and Jennifer Gibson Gutierrez and husband B. J.; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way; sisters-in-law, Maggie Corkern and Betty Corkern; numerous other family members and close friends.
