"A few weeks ago an old veteran of the rebellion came to this city engaged in canvassing and while so doing was taken sick, and on Saturday last died at the residence of W. I. Stevens. Geo. Sowash was a member of the 32d Iowa Infantry and was one of those who attended strictly to his duties at that time. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. Danner officiating, and the remains were interred in the Nevada cemetery on a lot so secured by Commander Allen and A. M. Norris. While a member of the G. A. R. he was not a member of this post, but the "boys" turned out to the funeral and accompanied the remains to their resting place. A son of his arrived here after the exercises were over and was gratified at the way in which the remains of his father had been disposed of by the people of Nevada."
