LLARENA, Lois Beery
widow of the late Albert Llarena, succumbed to cancer May 31, 2005. Lois was admitted to A.V. Hospital the day after her sister, Annabelle Dodson, died. Lois was born in Lancaster on October 31, 1926, to John and Mera Beery of Willow Springs. Lois was the youngest of three; Lois's sister Annabelle was born in 1919 and died May 16, 2005, her brother was born in 1922, and was killed in an airplane accident, with his son, Joe in 1974. Lois graduated from AVHS in 1943, and attended AVJC. She was a great athlete and played basketball at the High School and Junior College. She married Albert Llarena in 1949. Lois and Albert kept the heritage of their families alive another generation and became well known, and long time established farmers on the westside of Lancaster. Many westside ranchers would gather for coffee at Lois's kitchen table on Saturday mornings and it became a long standing tradition. Their door was always open and Lois made sure that whoever stepped through her doorway felt at home and had a place at her kitchen table. Lois had a quiet, peaceful heart and yet her presence had a strong, calming affect on everyone that knew her. She was an example of contentment and did
what needed to be done without reservation or complaint. Lois' life reflected her great pride in being a wife and mother to her children. She gave unselfishly from a heart of love. Lois is survived by 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. They were her life and her love. Her daughter Marlene (son-in-law Greg preceded Lois in death) children, Mikel (Michelle), Weslee (Nikki) their son Connor, and Merah Mattison; her son; Tom and his wife Joy; children; Jeff, Jill and JoAnn Llarena, her daughter, Francine and her husband Bruce Carroll and their son Chace, her daughter Jeanette (Ging) and children Eyan and Kelsey McIntyre and son, Rick and his wife Lisa and their children Levi and Luke Llarena. Lois leaves numerous others that knew her as Aunt (Adelle Maricich, John and Ray Beery), or adopted her as their Mom. She is also survived by her cousins Daphne Miller Myrann and Vonnie Beery Lane. Family and friends gathered every Sunday evening for dinner at the Llarena home where it was not uncommon to see 10 to 20 children. It has been said, "There is no greater place of ministry, position or power than that of a mother" and Lois was a mother to many. She drove a bus for the Westside School District and then AVSTA for over 27 years. Lois was a member of the original group of "Old Timers". Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday June 10, 2005, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, 44802 Date Ave., Lancaster, CA 93534. Interment to follow at Lancaster District Cemetery
