"Grandma Bugs" Maybeth Price Barlow passed away at her home in Salt Lake City, May 17, from complications of cancer. Maybeth was born Oct 31, 1924 in Park City, UT. In 1943, she married John Anthony Ferrara, a soldier from Lock Haven, PA and traveled extensively around the world. Her husband, John, died unexpectedly in Okinawa, 1959. Maybeth returned with her children to the U.S., eventually settling in Sandy, UT. Maybeth and John had five children, Tonya Jean, who died at age 5, John Robert (Karon), William Salvatore (Pamela), Ralph Michael, and Cheryl Lea (Darren Jensen). They had 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In 1967, Maybeth married Kimber K. Barlow, who had six children from a previous marriage. He was an educator and Lt. Colonel U.S.A.F. (retired). As a child, she traveled with her family while her father worked for the CCC, often camping outdoors. From her mother she learned to cook and sew and became a master seamstress, an artist and an excellent cook, using these talents throughout her life serving others. She made clothing, including dress shirts, dresses and suits for her children and grandchildren, taught young women to sew, and made gifts to give away to others. Maybeth organized family service projects each holiday season, making more than 100 quilts for the YWCA women's shelter over the past 10 years. Maybeth is best characterized as fun loving, creative and generous. Her grandchildren will remember "Grand-ma Bugs" for the games and activities she planned whenever the family gathered. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, garage sales and camping. The family would like to thank all of the medical personnel for their care and her friends for the many acts of kindness during her illness. We will miss Grandma Bugs, but are joyful for wonderful memories left with us and in knowing that she is once again united with many whom she loved dearly and who loved her. Services will be Thurs. May 22, 1 p.m. 2245 E. 3900 S, Valley View LDS Stake Center. Viewing, same location, Wed. May 21, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral.

Sorry we didn't get to meet in this life. From what I've heard, you were an amazing woman.
