Cynthia Jone "Cindy" (Thurman) Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, with Oscar Miles, minster, officiating. Interment to follow Crinerville Cemetery.
Cindy was born to Norman and Emma Lou ( Rudd ) Thurman on April 28, 1954, in Ardmore, Okla. She was a graduate of Ardmore High School and attended Murray College, receiving her B.A. from East Central University. She worked for the City of Ardmore for 16 years, 12 of those as secretary to the city manager. In 2011, Cindy started her career in nursing homes as Administrator at Westbrook Home in Waurika, Woodview Home in Ardmore, and at the Healdton and Wilson nursing homes.
Cindy loved to sing and listen to southern gospel music. She attended gospel concerts in the area at various churches all her life. She is a member of the Family of God Church.
Cindy was preceded by her father, Norman Thurman; nephew, Wesley Thurman; and sister-in-law, JoBeth Thurman..
Cindy is survived by her mother, Lou Thurman; son, Kristopher Anderson; daughter, Andrea Anderson; brother, Greg Thurman; nephew, Shawn Thurman; great-nephew, Haivan Thurman.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday evening, May 23, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
