Ruth Roberts Polston, 90, of Lilburn, Ga., passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Ga., from complications of cancer.

She was born May 22, 1922, in Marietta, Ohio, to James and Martha Ellen Roberts. She married Mark Polston in 1954 and he passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers. She graduated in 1940 from St. Marys High School and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1982. After retiring, she enjoyed extensive travel throughout the U.S. and Europe with her daughter, Ellen. The memories of those trips were priceless. Gardening, mystery novels, as well as staying up to date on current topics through CNN were favorite hobbies. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Michael of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ellen and fiance, Robert Barron of Lawrenceville, Ga.; as well as several nieces and nephews; and lifelong dear friend, Jean Pryor Samples of West Virginia.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Ingram Funeral Home. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
