Alpha Bell was born the daughter of Charles S. West and Rachel E. Morris West on October 7, 1919, in Kaw, Oklahoma. She died on May 20, 2013 at her home in Chickasha.
Alpha married Joseph Burton Gross on May 28, 1943. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church for over 68 years where she served as secretary of the Wedding Ring Class. Alpha worked at the Food Pantry and delivered Meals-On-Wheels. She had been a Girl Scout Leader. Alpha loved to sew and do for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rachel West; husband, J. B. Gross, three brothers, Lee, Hersel, and Guy West, and one sister, Audrey Miller.
Survivors include daughter and husband, Sharon and Bill Venable of Chickasha; daughter and husband, Karen and Duane Bennett of Chickasha; grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford, Brett Bennett, Christopher Bennett, and Shari Bennett; great grandchildren, Heather Crawford and Daniel Bennett; sister, Lena Ross; several nieces and nephews; faithful companion, Buddy.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
