Peter Coulter (son of John Coulter and Catherine Smoot of Fairfax, VA) was born Abt. 1812 in Virginia, and died 26 Mar 1880 in Franklin County, Ohio. He married Mathilda Alice Sealock on 03 Nov 1831 in Washington DC, daughter of William Sealock and Martha Moore.
Sometime during the mid-1800s Peter Coulter moved to Linden, Virginia in Warren County; just outside Front Royal. He lived and worked on a farm until July of 1863. On July 23rd the Civil War battle of Wapping Heights (aka Manassa Gap) was fought on and around Peter's farm. The result was Peter's and other farms in the area being burned to the ground. Peter and family (with the exception of his son William Mason) moved to Franklin County, Ohio where he finally died in March of 1880. He body was placed in a vault at East Concord Cemetery (Grove City, OH) for two months before finally being buried there.
