Ernest Ryan, son of Mrs. Hilda Ryan of Oakland, who has been in the U.S. Navy for the past four years, was reported as missing in action. A telegram was received from the government Wednesday. No details were given.
He was a machinist mate first class and was assigned to the U.S.S. New Orleans.
