John C. Doern

John C. Doern, 85, retired Town of Brothertown farmer, died Saturday at the homestead farm where he resided with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Watry. He spent all of his life in the town of Brothertown where he was born Jan. 11, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Doern. He attended the public schools in the township.

On July 9, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Strebe at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Calumetville of which congregation Mr. Doern was a member at the time of his death.

Throughout their married life, Mr. and Mrs. Doern resided on the homestead farm. Mrs. Doern passed away Oct. 5, 1946.

For many years, Mr. Doern served as school clerk and as town chairman of the Town of Brothertown and formerly he was also associated with the Calumet County Mutual Fire Insurance Co., of New Holstein.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Victor (Florence) Watry, on the homestead farm, Mrs. Edward (Lucy) Bohrich, Chicago and Mrs. Michael (Clara) Schoenborn, town of Brothertown; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Louisa Schmeidl, Milwaukee and Mrs. Minnie Baker and Mrs. Caroline Ludwig, both of Chilton.
Besides his wife, Mr. Doern was preceded in death by two sons, Arnold and Harold and by three brothers and two sisters.
