Minnie Lee Worsham was born November 14, 1905, in Midnight, Mississippi. She was the only child of the late, Daniel P. Smith and Elizabeth Smith. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She attended elementary school in Mississippi and after the family moved to Chicago, Illinois she completed her education at Wendell Phillips High School.


In 1926, she married the late, Adolphus E. Worsham at the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Theirs was the first wedding in that newly organized church, and to this union, three sons were born.


She was Zion Hill's first Sunday School Secretary and Church Clerk. She also was active a Sunday School and B.Y.P.U. teacher, a member of the Choir, Missionary Society, and a member of the First Aid Board.


She united with the Emmanuel Church family in 1975 and immediately became active with the Home Mission. Her inspirational writings were a part of the Sunday Church bulletin.


She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed being a seamstress. Her strong desire to care for people led her into the field of nursing, where she practiced until her health failed.


She departed this life Tuesday, November 23, 1993, at 2:45 A.M.


She leaves to rejoice in her memory three sons: Carl A., Bennie A. (Ethel) and James E. (Corrine-deceased); ten grandchildren: Carol, Harold, Michael, Terrance, Anthony, Cheryl, Brenda, Valerie, Vance and Adrienne; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Swintha Worsham of Detroit, Michigan; cousins, Milton Williams (Florence) and Joseph Williams and a host of relatives and friends.
