Carl Lee Simpson died unexpectedly at 9:15 o'clock Friday evening at his home at 327 Walnut street. Mr. Simpson had not been ill when he was stricken. He was 70 years of age.
He was born on July 1, 1893 at Bedford, a son of Matthew Simpson and Laura (Shipp) Simpson.
Mr. Simpson was a member of the Church of Christ.
He attended school near Bedford and resided in that community prior to going to Alma, Ill.
On May 31, 1917 he was married to Miss Alma Edna Whitty at Marburg, Ill. Mr and Mrs Simpson returned to Chillicothe for a residence in September 1934.
Mr. Simpson for a number of years was employed at the Henderson Produce Co. and Hobson-MacFarland heavy machinery company until he retired. Until two weeks ago Mr Simpson assisted at the Cummings Annex store.
Survivors include his widow of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Myron Tharp, Jamesport; Mrs. Paul Garner, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. George Reid, Lawton, Okla., Mrs. Woodrow Ewen, Baltimore, Md.; a son, William W Simpson, Marionville, Mo.; a brother Will Simpson, Griggsville, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Arch Bailey, Chillicothe. He also leaves 20 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
Carl Lee Simpson first married Ruth Frances Beever September 12, 1912. They were the parents of one daughter, Ruth Ilea Simpson born in April 1916. Ruth Frances Beever Simpson died April 28, 1916 and is buried in Burnside Cemetery, Livingston County Missouri.
