31-Year-Old Mother of Three Dies
Mrs. Paul Peterson, 31-year-old mother of three small girls, was found dead early last Thursday morning at her home, 918 South State street in this city. Suffocation during an epileptic seizure was stated as the cause of death. Her body was found by her husband shortly after six o’clock when, upon going to the bedroom to call her for breakfast, he found her dead in bed.
The deceased woman’s husband stated that she had suffered the seizures since the birth of their second child. She seemingly had recovered from an attack suffered the evening before her death. The attending physician determined the time of death as shortly after midnight.
Surviving with her husband, are the three daughters, seven-year-old Joan Louise, Patricia Ann, who will be six years old next month and Susan Kay, whose second birthday will be in October. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Otto Kruger of this city, and the following brothers and sisters, Alvin, Ewald, Mrs. Leonard Ewest (Mamie), Martin, Mrs. Emery Fritz (Irene) and Mrs.Lyle Kelling, all of this community, and Leonard, St. Paul. Her father passed away in 1945 and a brother died in infancy.
Mrs. Peterson, the former Viola Irma Kruger, was born September 6, 1921, on a farm in Wilton township,. She was the youngest of the family of nine children born to Otto and Helen Wilkens Kruger. She was baptized November 6, 1921 by the Rev. Frederick F. Duerschner and confirmed September 10, 1934, by the Rev. John Herbst at the old St. John’s Lutheran church in Wilton. Her church membership was later transferred to St. John’s Lutheran church in this city.
She attended the rural school in her home community and continued to live there until coming to Waseca in 1943. During World War II, she was employed with the E. F. Johnson company and later worked seasonally at the local canning factory. January 13, 1845 was the date of her marriage to Paul Peterson of Otisco township.
Final rites were held Saturday, July 4, with family services at 10:30 a. m. at the Pfaff chapel followed by 2 o’clock services at St. John’s Lutheran church. The Rev. M. A. Kampfe officiated. Interment was in Woodville cemetery.
Serving as pall bearers were Wilbur Peterson of Harmony, Albin Peterson, Richard Peterson, Fred Klinger, William Klinger and Emmett Johnson, all of Waseca.
