At the time of her passing at 3:08 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013, Jane leaves a true legacy of helping thousands of people in the nursing field both as nurse practitioners and nurse educators, over a 40-year career.

Jane Servonsky was born in Newport News, Virginia on June 4, 1947, the second of five children to Francis (Janosky) and Benjamin Stanley Servonsky. For many years, the Servonsky family were congregants of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ocean View.
Jane graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in 1965. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1970 from Old Dominion University and her Master of Science in Nursing in 1976 from California State University. In 1979, Jane completed Post-masters Certificates as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner at UCLA. In 1993, Jane received her PhD in Health Services for children and families from ODU.
From 1971 through 2012, Jane held a series of nursing care and nurse education positions at the neonatal and pediatric care unit of the San Diego Children's Hospital, California State University, Mount St. Mary's College, Norfolk State University and Hampton University.
In 1983, Jane's Book, "care of management of children" was published and used in many pediatric courses for a number of years at the college level.
Dr. Servonsky was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frances Janosky Servonsky and Benjamin Stanley Servonsky and two sisters, Marie Servonsky Pefleyand Patricia Servonsky Clifford. She is survived by her loving husband, James Clarke of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Judith Calderwood Carlson of Annandale, NJ and Theresa Wimbish of Alexandria, VA; three nieces, Kate Wimbish of Alexandria, VA, Lindsay and Lacy Clifford of Norfolk, VA; one nephew, Will Wimbish of Alexandria, VA; three brother-in-laws, Colonel Lee Wimbish USA, of Alexandria, VA, Charles Pefley of Virginia Beach, VA, Bruce Carlson of Annandale, NJ; a step-daughter, Sarah Clarke Yarborough, Huntersville, NC; a step-son, James C. Clarke, Washington, DC; a step son-in-law, Garland Yarborough also of Huntersville, NC; a step grandson, Jackson Bear Yarborough of Huntersville, ; and a step-granddaughter, Lucy Olivia Yarborough.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Carlos Silva of Norfolk and his dedicated and caring staff for their compassion and care of Jane. In her final days, Jane was attended to by the highly skilled and professional medical staff of the Fairfax Inova Medical Center, Fairfax, VA. Inova Fairfax was assisting Jane pre-lung transplant at the time of her death.
There are no funeral arrangements. Jane's life will be celebrated by close family and friends at a later date. Cremation services were provided by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel.
